John Nolen/Cap City
Parts of Cap City along Lake Monona shoreline will be close to repair and upgrade the bridge approaches so that the approach is more level. I suspect the detour will go around Monona Bay for those who come in downtown from that direction by bike. I normally do not, unless I want to take a "long" route in. I guess this will just make the "long route" longer! You will be able to ride on the path along Brittingham Park and the boathouse and rejoin it at the intersection of North Shore and John Nolen, so if you use the SW trail to come in I don't anticipate any impact (other than some traffic crossing troubles).
Here are some details:
John Nolen Drive
Date: 3/29/2010 - 5/15/2010
Location: John Nolen Drive Bridges
Details: John Nolen Drive (Lakeside St to Broom St): The project includes raising the bridge concrete approach slabs and reconstructing the bike path at the two northerly bridges. The project dates are March 29 to May 15. The bike path will closed from Lakeside St to North Shore Dr for the duration of the project. There will be a signed detour for the bike path.
Phase 1 (March 29 - April 2): John Nolen Drive inbound will be reduced to one lane of traffic at all times. John Nolen Drive outbound may be reduced to one of traffic except between 3:00 p.m and 6 p.m. Monday - Friday. This phase includes construction of the bike path and preparations for lane traffic switching.
Phase 2 (April 5 - April 16): Inbound and outbound traffic will be reduced to one lane in each direction at all times by routing inbound traffic on one of the outbound lanes of Jon Nolen Dr. This phase includes construction of the inbound lanes and the bike path.
Phase 3 (April 19 - April 30): Inbound and outbound traffic will be reduced to one lane in each direction at all times by routing outbound traffic on one of the inbound lanes of Jon Nolen Dr. This phase includes construction of the inbound lanes and the bike path.
Phase 4 (May 3 - May 15): John Nolen Drive inbound will be reduced to one lane of traffic at all times. John Nolen Drive outbound may be reduced to one of traffic except between 3:00 p.m and 6 p.m. Monday - Friday. This phase includes construction of the bike path and restoration of John Nolen Drive.

Re: John Nolen/Cap City
It appears that construction is complete with a little cleanup remaining. Two of the bridge decks have been widened and the rails replaced, as well as the fact that the approaches are level. It is much better. The southwestern-most bridge was not replaced and little to no overall resurfacing was done.
