Olympic Cycling 2016 - to Madison?
I had heard some rumblings about this somewhere else, but I think it would be great. And for those of you who have done HHH or DD, you could say that you completed an Olympic road course (many hours behind the winning time, of course). It's a long shot, but it's fun to dream.
Do they decide on an Olympic location later this year in July?

That would be cool.
The other finalists are Madrid, Tokyo, and Rio de Janeiro. Brazil is the only finalist country that has never hosted, and there has never been an Olympics in South America. I suppose that is just one of a range of factors that go into the decision of who gets the Games.
Rio is hosting the World Cup in 2014 - I wonder if that helps or hurts their Olympic bid. On the one hand they will have recent experience and new facilities; on the other hand, it may be "not their turn" because of that.
I also wonder if the US is at a disadvantage since we have hosted the Games more than any other country (4 Summers and 4 Winters) and we have hosted more recently than Spain or Japan.

Yes but ... Blagojevich? I think the IOC may frown on awarding huge infrastructure projects to places with hihg-profile political corruption problems.
